Project Finland’s goal is simple: to create understanding and links between the children of our two countries. This interactive Web site invites Canadian parents, teachers and students to discover the unique Finnish culture and to see the similarities with our own.

Education is the most important tool we can give our young people as they prepare to become the decision makers and leaders of the future. The launch of the Canadian version of Project Finland means that children now have a new tool in the ever expanding quest for knowledge. With the chance to interact with children an ocean away, this site acknowledges the importance of becoming aware of the world around us.

Both Canada and Finland are northern, bilingual democracies, with children whose curiosity is boundless. The path of education leads to understanding, which also leads to tolerance, sharing and respect—values we share with Finland. I wish everyone a pleasant journey as you discover something new around every corner. --January 2006
